Cork locals have been left shocked after a woman was found dead at her house in Brookdale, Riverstick on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased aged in her 50s, has been named locally as Deborah (Debbie) Connell who lived in Riverstick for years after moving from Carrigaline.
Ms Connell was described as a "quiet woman" - she lived with her partner Lukasz who was a more well-known figure in the community, Cork Beo reports.
Local Councillor Alan Coleman said everyone is "shocked" after learning the "very sad news" in the area.
The alarm was raised at 3pm on Saturday and Gardai as well as ambulance services rushed to the home, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A full technical examination of the house was carried out.
A Garda spokesperson said:"The woman’s remains have been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.
"The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation."
A post on RIP.ie says: "Beloved daughter of Carmel and the late John Bruce, loving partner of Lukasz, dear sister of John and Joanna.
"Sadly missed by her loving family, sister-in-law Sharon, nieces and nephew Chloe, Nicole, Ella and Iain, relatives and many friends. May she rest in peace.
"Reposing at Fordes Funeral Home, Old Waterpark, Carrigaline on Wednesday (19th) from 5.30pm until removal at 6.30pm to Church of Our Lady and St. John, Carrigaline. Requiem Mass on Thursday (20th) at 1.30pm followed by cremation at The Island Crematorium."
