Woman in her 30s taken to hospital after road smash closes Princess Road

A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital after a serious crash in south Manchester this afternoon. The southbound Princess Road was closed as the emergency services and an air ambulance were scrambled to the scene on Tuesday afternoon.

The road in Didsbury was closed off on the southbound/outbound carriageway, between Nell Lane and Barlow Moor Road, following the crash at around 1pm. according to traffic alert service Inrix.

Police officers were called to the scene and video shared on social medial showed an air ambulance landing nearby and taking off later. Traffic and bus services were diverted while the emergency services responded to the incident.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital. Her condition has not been revealed.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 1pm we received a call to a collision on Princess Road, Didsbury. Officers are currently attending."

A tweet posted by TfGM said: "A5103 Princess Road, West Didsbury. Road is closed traveling southbound from the junction with Nell Lane due to a serious road traffic collision. Use Nell Ln, Elizabeth Slinger Rd and Barlow Moor Rd. Follow @StagecoachGM for bus diversion info."

The road re-opened just before 2.30pm.
