Woman in her 30s still fighting for her life after bike crash

A cyclist who was knocked off her bike in Sefton Village is still fighting for her life.

The woman, in her 30s, was rushed to hospital on Sunday morning after the accident near to the landmark Punchbowl pub on Lunt Road in Sefton.

The air ambulance was sent to the scene but the victim, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to hospital by road.

It is believed the cyclist was knocked off her bike by a car.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a road traffic accident. She was later released under investigation.

Police have said that the victim is still in a critical condition. Her family are being supported by officers.

Investigators are still trying to find out more information about the incident, which happened at around 8.40am on Sunday.
