Woman in her 30s ‘raped’ on residential street in horror night-time attack

A man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly raped on a residential street in a fearsome night-time attack.

The victim, in her 30s, said she was attacked on Windermere Drive, Worcester, at around 9.30pm on Friday, October 31.

West Mercia Police confirmed they have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of carrying out the attack and he remains in police custody.

Inspector Natalie Arrowsmith, from the force's crime and vulnerability team, said: "We are pleased to have quickly identified an individual and brought him into custody for further enquiries.

"The victim will continue to be supported by specially trained officers and will receive the necessary care.

"I would like to stress that we do not believe there to be a wider risk to the public.

"If you do have any information which you think could be useful to our investigation please get in contact by emailing laura.olczak@westmercia.police.uk."
