A woman died after falling from a flats building.

Emergency services were called to a "serious incident" at a high-rise block of flats in Ellesmere Port .

Cheshire Live reported a major police presence at the Joseph Groome Tower flats off Percival Road on Sunday, August 11 at around 4.40pm.

It was later confirmed a 30-year-old woman died after falling from the block of flats.

Attempts were made to resuscitate the woman and her death is not believed to be suspicious, say police.

Concern about the nature of the incident arose after Ellesmere Port police tweeted: "Officers are responding to reports of a serious incident a block of flats off Percival Road.

"There will be lots of police activity in the area, but nothing for the wider public to be concerned about."

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said today (Monday): "At 4.40pm on Sunday 11 August, police received reports of a woman falling from a block of flats off Percival Road in Ellesmere Port.

"Attempts were made to resuscitate the 30-year-old woman, but she sadly passed away.
