A woman in her 30s died after being hit by a train at a Warrington railway station, police have confirmed.

Officers rushed to the railway line at Padgate on Monday, May 10, at around 1.40pm, after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks.

In a statement yesterday, a spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Padgate station at 1.40pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
