We should be kind to one another all year round, but that feels especially true at Christmas, when the spirit is all about giving to one another.
With that in mind, one woman has been left in floods of tears after reaching out on social media to ask if anyone was willing to donate a Christmas tree, after she and her family had "fallen on hard times."
The woman said she was "embarrassed" and had spent "most of the day" trying to build up the courage to ask her local community in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, for help.
But, according to the Manchester Evening News, as soon as she did, she was inundated with messages of support, with nearly 100 people reaching out and offering to help, within just two hours.
"Anonymous please... I'm so embarrassed having to ask this and it's taken me most of the day to build up my courage to ask, we have all fallen on hard times and I am one of those people," she wrote in the original post.
"I am asking if there is anyone who has a spare Xmas tree and few decorations that could be gifted to me, just want to cheer my home up a little bit in the hope it lifts my mood. Thank you for reading."
In a follow up post, the local thanked her fellow community for the outpouring support and admitted she was blown away by everyone's kindness.

"I am sat here crying my heart out at all the lovely offers for me. Not just decorations but support with shopping, an ear, and someone even offering to cook for me, hamper made up etc is all in the comments," she wrote.
"I'm truly blown away at all you beautiful people of Prestwich, my mood has lifted without putting a tree up. Just when you think you are alone in this world seriously you have all made my day, each and every comment. I cannot thank you people enough, I don't know what else I can say."
One Facebook user responded: "Its took a lot of courage to ask if you need some help with shopping or Xmas presents for the kids. I'm happy to help."
"People shouldn't feel embarrassed for asking for things. Not only at Christmas. But anytime of the year. The one thing I have noticed about the people of Prestwich is that the are always will to help out or dig deep whatever its for," another added.
