A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after falling six metres off a wall at Salamanca on the Hobart waterfront.
Police said the woman was found about 9:30am on Sunday at the rear of the Waterman's Beer Market.
Investigators believe the fall from a retaining wall was an accident.
"A police investigation is underway in relation to the circumstances leading a young woman receiving critical injuries after what we believe was an accidental fall from a six-metre-high retaining wall," Detective Inspector Adrian Bodnar said.
"At this early stage, our investigation indicates this may have been an unfortunate and tragic accident and our thoughts are with the woman and her family and friends."
Police said they were not releasing any further details about the accident.
