Woman in court charged with alleged New Year's day Erskine murder

A 27-year-old woman appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of an Erskine man on New Year’s Day.

Prosecutors allege Stephanie Bowie, of Erskine, stabbed Darren Russell, 21, in Park Drive on Friday.

She made no plea or declaration when she appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court.

She is also charged with assaulting Mr Russell on a separate occasion and was remanded in custody.

Her brother Mark Bowie, 18, appeared alongside her charged with assaulting Mr Russell and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Both are expected to make a second court appearance in connection with the case within eight days.
