A woman has been accused of killing an elderly man by failing to provide care after police found a semi-conscious man at a home in Sydney's inner west.

Officers discovered the man, 84, allegedly in a semi-conscious state of neglect while visiting a home in Rozelle in May last year.

The man was taken to hospital where he remained in care, before he died from his injuries in December.

Leichhardt Police formed Strike Force Bondy to investigate the incident.

After extensive investigations, police arrested a woman, 61, at a home in Rozelle on Monday.

She was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with manslaughter and the domestic violence offence of refusing to provide the necessities of life (endanger life).

The woman appeared at the Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney on Monday.
