Woman in court accused of murdering 91yo grandmother in 2012

The 91-year-old woman is understood to have died at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in 2012.

A 36-year-old woman who allegedly murdered her grandmother almost seven years ago has appeared in a Perth court.

Alaine Dawn Sturniolo, from the northern Perth suburb of Dianella, began weeping as the murder charge was read out in the Northbridge Magistrate's Court on Saturday morning.

Her grandmother, 91-year-old May Dawn Gladstone Baldwin, is believed to have died in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in January 2012.

Ms Sturniolo is accused of murdering Ms Baldwin between January 2 and 16, 2012.

She was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on November 28.
