Woman in 80s smashes car into trolleys outside Morrisons

A driver mounted two barriers and smashed into trolleys in a bizarre crash outside a supermarket.

The pensioner seemingly lost control of the vehicle near to the front entrance of Southport’s Morrisons store.

Police and fire crews were called to the store at around 11.25am on Friday and officers remained there for around two hours until the car was removed.

The shaken driver, in her 80s, was unhurt in the collision and passed a breathalyser test.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 11.25 to Morrisons car park to reports a silver Volvo had been in collision with trolleys. “The fire service attended as a precaution.”
