Woman in 70s hit by bus after stumbling off pavement into road

A woman in her 70s was taken to hospital as a precaution after stumbling into the road into a bus in Liverpool city centre.

Merseyside Police said it received a call around 7.55pm yesterday (Thursday 2) after a pedestrian was hit by a bus.

Emergency services attended Hanover Street where the woman in her 70s had stumbled into the road off the pavement and was clipped by the bus before falling.

The pensioner is reported to have suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Hanover Street was closed while emergency services attended and has since re-opened.

Posting on Facebook, Merseyside Police said: "Reassurance has been provided to the female's family and to members of the public during the incident."

Adding: "She is in good hands now and we wish her well in her recovery. #CommunityFirst".

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 7.55pm yesterday (Thursday 2 September) we received a report of a collision on Hanover Street involving a bus and a pedestrian.

"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, suffered minor injuries.
