Woman in 60s rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by teen on bike

A woman is in hospital with serious head injuries after being hit by a cyclist in Bootle.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the junction of Washington Parade and Vermont Way, at around 5.54pm, on Thursday, June 16, to reports of a crash between a woman and a cyclist. The woman, in her 60s, was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury.

It has since been confirmed that the woman remains in hospital, in a serious but stable condition. Officers confirmed the cyclist, a 15-year-old boy, was not injured in the crash.

He stopped at the scene, and is helping officers with their investigation. The road was closed while accident investigation work took place and reopened a few hours later.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage that may help the investigation. Roads Policing Sergeant Amy Murray said: "If you witnessed this collision, or were passing and may have captured any dashcam footage to please come forward so we can understand the circumstances of what took place."
