A young woman was sexually assaulted on a Tube platform by a suspect who followed her onto a train and kept staring at her.
British Transport Police said the attack happened at Mile End in east London.
The victim, in her early 20s, was stalked on the District line by a man who alighted the same eastbound service.
A force spokeswoman said: “Despite the platform not being busy, he stood extremely close to her before sexually assaulting her.
“The man then followed the woman onto a bench to wait for a train, before following her onto a train, staring at her throughout.”
When the London Underground train reached South Woodford, they got off again.
But the quick-thinking woman jumped back on as the doors closed to get away from him between 9am and 9.45am on Thursday, May 1.
Officers investigating the offence released a CCTV image of a male seen exiting station barriers in a brown jacket, white shirt, blue jeans and wearing headphones.
