Woman hospitalised as two people walking dogs were attacked from behind in Irvine

Police Scotland are appealing for information after two people were assaulted in Irvine.

A man, 27, and woman, 25, suffered non-life threatening injuries during the incident, which happened on a footpath near Montgomerie Park shortly before 3.40am on Sunday, September 29.

The two victims were walking a dog in the area when approached from behind by two unidentified people who subsequently assaulted them.

The man suffered an injury to his head, while the woman received an injury to her arm which required treatment at Crosshouse Hospital.

Detective Constable Gordon Thomson said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident and would urge anyone who could assist us to come forward.

"We would interested in speaking to anyone who was in the Montgomerie Park area who may have seen or heard any signs of a disturbance.

"Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident 887 of 29 September. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
