A woman has been taken to hospital following a serious house fire in north Canberra.
ACT Policing is investigating the incident reported on Hewlett Circuit, in Florey, on the evening of Wednesday, July 22.
An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesman said the fire was reported about 5.30pm and the home was well alight when firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after.
He said the female occupant of the house was already outside when crews arrived and ACT Ambulance Service paramedics took her to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition.
Two fire trucks, an aerial appliance and a breathing apparatus truck were called to the location.
Once at the scene, firefighting crews took about 10 minutes to bring the blaze under control. It was later fully extinguished about 6.30pm.
The home has been largely destroyed, with structural collapse reported in one corner.
ACT Fire and Rescue tape surrounded the property and the incident was handed over to ACT Policing about 7.35pm.
The home is expected to remain under police guard overnight and a forensic team is expected to gather evidence from the scene on Thursday morning.
