Woman hospitalised after being attacked by couple in Motherwell shop

A woman was hospitalised after being attack by a couple in a Motherwell shop.

The 35-year-old was seriously injured in the assault after being confronted by a man and woman last Wednesday.

Police are now investigating the horror ordeal happened around 7.45pm within Smartways shop on Muirhouse Road.

The suspects then fled in a white Ford Fiesta car.

The victim was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital.

The male suspect is described as early 20s, of slim build with short strawberry blond hair.

He was wearing black shorts, a black jumper and black trainers.

The female suspect is described as around 20 years old, approx 5 ft 4 ins, of slim build with shoulder length brown hair.

She was wearing a light coloured jumper, blue jeans and black trainers.

Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart, of Wishaw CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the Muirhouse Road area around this time and saw any suspicious activity or people matching that description to get in touch.

"If you were driving in the area and have a dash-cam, I would ask you to please check back and see if there is any footage that may assist us in our investigation."
