Woman mortified to learn we've all been pronouncing 'butt naked' wrong our whole lives

There are certain words and phrases that we may mispronounce unknowingly until someone inevitably laughs at us one day.

One 23-year-old woman was fuming, however, when she realised there were three common phrases she'd been saying wrong her whole life.

And nobody had ever stopped to tell her she was wrong.

TikToker @Honeyjastea aka Jasmine took to the social media platform to express her horror that she hadn't realised she'd been mispronouncing the common phrases sooner.

Up first was 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth', which she'd been pronouncing as 'don't look a giptorse in the mouth.'

She went on to explain that she assumed it was an imaginary creature that you shouldn't look in the mouth for some reason, and that everybody was in agreement.

The second phrase she'd been pronouncing wrong, and we probably all have, is 'buck naked.'

That's right - it isn't butt naked. It's buck.

She said: "I thought they were butt naked - like down to the butt, naked. I honestly stand by this one because I think it makes sense."

The final phrase Jasmine has been mispronouncing for 23 years is it's a 'dog-eat-dog world'.

She hilariously thought it was a 'doggy-dog world'.

The video then zooms in onto her shocked face as she says: "I have been saying these wrong with my whole chest, and not a single soul has corrected me."

Others told of their hilarious mishaps in the comments.

One wrote: "Also 23, my best friend has been saying “kazootight” when someone sneezes instead of “gesundheit” her whole life until I told her that’s not it", followed by a crying with laughter face.

Someone else was horrified too, commenting: "Totally thought it had to be "doggy-dog", because "dog-eat-dog" sounded too dark."

In the comments, Jasmine also wrote: "You're telling me it's not 'up and adam?'"
