Woman hit by train on Phitsanulok crossing

PHITSANULOK: A was hit by a train and killed on the railway crossing at Saphan Dam bridge in Bang Krathum district late on Monday night.

Pol Capt Witsanu Wongmak, duty-officer at Bang Krathum police station, said emergency responders found the Chiang Mai-Bangkok train No.108 stopped on the track. The body of a woman wearing brown long pants was found caught on a concrete support beneath the bridge. 

There were no identity documents on the body. She was thought to be about 45 years old. The body was taken to Bang Krathum Hospital, Thai media reported.

The train was approaching Mae Thiab station from the direction of Phitsanulok station. The woman had attempted to cross the tracks in front of it, the driver told police.  

Police were investigating.
