Woman hit by cyclist in Leeds city centre rushed to hospital

A woman is in hospital with a serious head injury after she was hit by a cyclist in Leeds city centre this morning.

A cyclist crashed into the woman near the Corn Exchange, with parts of Boar Lane and Vicar Lane temporarily closed after the incident at around 7.44am.

The woman sustained a serious head injury and was rushed to hospital.

Officers cordoned off the road but left the scene at around 10am, with all roads now open a witness told LeedsLive.

Workers in a nearby shop said that they saw a number of police vehicles in the area as officers came and cordoned off the road, but they were not there for 'very long'.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told LeedsLive: "This was in relation to a collision between a cyclist and a woman. It was reported at 7.44am.

"The woman has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

"Enquiries are continuing and the road is now reopen."
