A woman was hit by a vehicle and critically injured Friday in Edison Park on the Northwest Side.

The 75-year-old was walking across the street in a crosswalk when she was hit by an eastbound gray Mercury sedan at 9:09 p.m. in the 6700 block of North Northwest Highway, according to Chicago police.

She was taken in critical condition to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said.

The driver, a 67-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk, according to police.
