Woman hit by car outside Primark in Swansea city centre

A woman has been hit by a car in a busy shopping street in Swansea city centre.

Emergency services were quick to arrive to treat the woman after she was hit in the street outside Primark on St Mary’s Square at around 11.30am on Friday March 22.

The duty inspector for South Wales Police confirmed a woman had been hit by a vehicle and had suffered minor injuries.

One eyewitness said police blocked off the road while they treated the casualty.

She said: "I didn't see it happen but all of a sudden there were people gathering outside.

"We just saw a woman on the floor and a car stopped next to her."

The woman is understood to have been taken to hospital by ambulance.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said officers were at the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on St Mary’s Square, Swansea.

"The pedestrian is currently being assessed at the scene by paramedics, though her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening," the spokesman added.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision but has yet to give an account o officers should contact 101, quoting occurrence 1900101770."
