Woman hit by car as three roads sealed off in St Helens

A woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in St Helens.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at The Broads, Thatto Heath, at 5.05pm on Monday, August 16 after reports of a woman being knocked down by a car.

The woman, who was walking at the time of the crash, was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service for her injuries.

Merseyside Police put road closures in place at 5.30pm while emergency services dealt with the incident and are asking motorists to avoid the area.

A spokesperson from the force said: "Police are currently in Thatto Heath following an RTC on The Broads, involving a car and a pedestrian, who has been taken to hospital for her injuries.

"Road closures are in place on The Broads, Elton Heath Road and Sutton Heath Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area."

AA sensors show traffic is 'coping well' in and around the area of the crash.
