Woman hit by car after alleged "rammy" in Wishaw street

A woman was hit by a car following an alleged street "rammy" involving a group of men in Wishaw.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the incident in Earn Crescent on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the street around 1.45pm after a woman was struck by the vehicle.

It is understood that there was a disturbance on the street involving a group of men prior to the woman being injured.

Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment.

Medical staff do not believe her injuries to be life threatening.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Inspector Kenny Dalrymple, from Wishaw CID, said: “We are continuing our investigation today and it is vital that anyone who witnessed what happened gets in touch.

“The disturbance took place in the middle of a busy residential area and people will have seen or heard something.”
