Woman hit by bus on busy Edinburgh street as emergency services race to the scene

A busy Edinburgh street has been closed after a woman was knocked down by a bus.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Princes Street, at the junction with Leith Street, shortly before 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Lothian Bus services and fellow motorists are being diverted away as police and paramedics continue to deal with the ongoing incident.

Witnesses have reported seeing a heavy police presence in the area with members of the public urged to stay away.

It is not currently known whether the woman has suffered serious injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: "Around 4.25pm on Wednesday, 29 September, we received a report of a crash involving a female pedestrian and a bus, on Princes Street at its junction with Leith Street in Edinburgh.

"Emergency services are currently on the scene."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
