A WOMAN is in hospital with "serious injuries" after being struck by a van in Airdrie.
The 61-year-old victim was hit by a Vauxhall Combo van on the town's Drumbathie Road, at the junction with Motherwell Street, at 5.45pm yesterday.
The pedestrian was taken to Monklands Hospital and the 29-year-old driver of the van was uninjured.
Police closed the road for two hours while officers carried out collision investigation work before reopening it around 7.50pm.
Sergeant Craig McDonald, of the Motherwell road policing unit, said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have seen what happened or has any information about the crash to get in touch.
“In addition, we are asking anyone with dash-cam footage who may have been travelling in the area at the time to check for anything that may help our investigation to also get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2577 of March 16.
