'Woman heard screaming near frozen lake' in Roundhay Park prompts major rescue response

Emergency services were called to a Leeds park after a woman was heard screaming and was feared to have into the frozen lake.

West Yorkshire Police assisted West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Yorkshire Ambulance who raced to the wintery scene in Roundhay Park.

They spent two hours at the scene and the fire and rescue team were seen entering the freezing water.

Kevin Charles Godin-Prior, a man who made headlines in 2007 for making 30 citizens arrest whilst wearing a Spider-Man outfit, was at Roundhay Park when a woman was heard screaming.

Kevin said: “I just heard someone screaming and called emergency services as soon as I could. They arrived pretty quickly, it was very traumatising for many people who were here at the time.”

The police and three fire engines have since left the scene, and we have contacted fire and rescue for a comment.

They have yet to confirm if anyone had fallen into the lake but as soon as they release a statement we will update our live blog.
