Woman has people gobsmacked as she claims to spot 'alien' in back seat of car

In the run up to Halloween, it's not unusual to see an increase in spooky sightings - as we've all got zombies on the brain. But while some creepy encounters are easily debunked, others are harder to explain. From castle-dwelling ghosts to spirit horses, there's been plenty to send shivers down your spine.

But alien sightings have been few and far between. Luckily, for space lovers - a woman has claimed she's spotted an alien in the US, and some might call the pictures out of this world. The supposed extra-terrestrial being was spotted by Crystal Patterson. The 45-year-old was browsing Google Earth when she was amazed to see an 'alien' in the backseat of a car.

Crystal was shocked when she looked closer at the photo (Google/Triangle News)

Crystal had been looking at her street using the imaging platform when she discovered something strange - but when she zoomed in the image was far different from what she expected.

When she examined a silver car driving with its window down, she saw a spooky face peering out at her.

Crystal said: "Can someone please tell me what I’m looking at in the backseat?

"The only reason I found this is because I was scoping out the location of a garage sale, which was located at the property in the background.

"The driver looked naked, so I zoomed in because I’m nosy, and thought the distortion of the figure in the back. My first thought was it was an alien."

But Crystal was not the only one who had her suspicions about the face, spotted in the town of Mapleton, in Maine, US.

Colette Berlin said: "OMGoodness! How on earth did you spot that?"

While Shay Nelle added: "Clearly an alien."

But David Griggs joked: "Mr Potatohead."
