Woman has been sending husband texts from 'landlord' for three years to get him to clean

When it comes to married life, apart from raising kids and keeping the spark alive, one of the biggest challenges couples face is dividing up the housework.

One woman was having such a difficult time getting her husband to pull his weight around the house, she had to resort to drastic measures.

The woman, known only as Rebecca, shared her 'hack' for getting her partner to help in an Australian cleaning group on Facebook, reports kidspot.com.au.

Rebecca, a mum-of-four, explained how for the last three years she's been sending her husband fake texts from the 'landlord' in order to get him to do jobs and clean.

She said: "I'm going to let you ladies in on the biggest secret of my life and also my best cleaning 'hack' if you have a husband like mine who is great but not very helpful around the house.

"I was at my wit's end and trying to get him to help mostly with yard jobs I struggle to do.

"I went and got a cheap mobile phone and saved the number under 'Landlord' so every time I want something done I text myself that they are coming to check, fix or need access to something so my hubby does the chore I want done."

Speaking to Kidspot about her Facebook post, the mum claimed that her sneaky trick works like "a charm" each time she does it.

Rebecca also said that she uses it to get her husband to help with things like cutting the grass or moving furniture around.

She added: "He’s a great dad who spends a lot of time with the kids, but he just isn’t that handy and helpful with the house which is mostly fine."

People on Facebook thought her plan was "genius".

One person replied to her saying: "Classic!! I crack the wobblies and say fine I’ll do it myself and as I start something I know my husband will come take over or I say I’ll get my dad to come do it. Always works."

Another commented that it was "the most genius thing" they'd ever heard.

Someone else wrote: "Years ago too, I told my husband we had three monthly house inspections so he would help do a big clean up over the weekend every three months and clean his tools and garage up and his dog's mess."

A different user suggested: "Save the number under council and say someone reported that the grass is out of control. That’ll get the mowing done at least haha."
