Woman has bag stolen from car in Shanganagh cemetery while mother stood only feet away

Visitors to Shanganagh cemetery have been warned to be careful about thieves after a bag was stolen from a car.

The warning was issued after a woman, who was visiting the graveyard with her mother, had her handbag stolen from the vehicle.

Her mother was standing only a few steps away when the brazen thief snatched the bag, which was wine coloured with a rectangle shaped crossbody.

The warning was posted on social media on the local Shankill community open forum.

The woman said: "Hi everyone just had my handbag (wine coloured rectangle shaped crossbody) stolen from car in Shanganagh cemetery.

"Lads in cemetery reckon it'll probably be dumped somewhere between Shankill and Bray can everyone please keep an eye out for it, usual story keys etc in it.

"Be careful down there, my mum was literally 2 steps from the car fixing flowers on the grave and I'd gone to get water.

She continued: "I think it was a silver car, saw one leaving just as I realised bag was gone, my mum was literally beside the car taking flowers out must have literally been hiding behind a headstone , opened car door, swiped bag and walked to a car."
