When moving into a new home, especially one that's rented, many tenants can rest assured that the property should have been deep-cleaned before they got the keys.
One woman recently settled into her new house and was told by the landlord that it had been cleaned and the carpet had been shampooed.
However, she wasn't completely convinced this had been the case.
So, taking to TikTok, the woman named @ashleykeeah, filmed herself tackling the carpet on her staircase, which initially appeared to look nice and neat.
But after vacuuming and going at the stairs with a spot cleaner, Ashley soon discovered it was anything but.

In the clip, Ashley says: "Moved into a new house they said was 'deep-cleaned'."
She then puts in her headphones, gets out the hoover and gets to work cleaning the stairs.
After vacuuming the length of the carpet, she shows all the dust, dirt and debris in the hoover that came off the supposedly clean stairs.
Next, she gets out the spot cleaner and goes over the space once again.
Once done, Ashley removes the container to show the dark, dirty liquid inside, adding that she finds it "gross".
More than 10 million people have since watched the cleaning video, with over one million liking it.
Thousands also took the time to comment, with one person saying: "Carpet should be illegal."
Another replied: "Hey bro they lied to you."
A third wrote: "Why they say deep clean do they mean they burned some sage or something?"
Someone else posted: "This is why I have a hate hate relationship with carpet. Especially if other feet have been on it."
While a different user asked: "What did they deep clean? The vibes?"
"By deep cleaned they mean they wiped the counter, wiped some lines in the carpet and sprayed some air freshener," added a sixth.
