Woman groped while walking home after Merseyrail journey

A woman was sexually assaulted by a man shortly after getting off a Merseyrail train.

Today Merseyside Police issued images of a man who could have information about the incident, which was reported after a woman was groped in Maghull.

At 1.30pm on Thursday, November 7, a 19-year-old woman got off a train at Maghull North station on Goldcrest Road.

She was then approached by a man on Park Lane who had been on the train with her.

The man tried to start a conversation with the victim and made several inappropriate comments, police said.

He then groped the woman and tried to kiss her.

The man then made away in the direction of Park Lane.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Detective Constable Jamie Dean said: "We think the man pictured may hold vital information to assist our enquiries. If you recognise him, let us know.

"This was a troubling incident which left a young woman understandably distressed and fearful of walking home.

"We are determined to find the person responsible and remove them from the streets, and I can assure people locally that we will take positive action on what you tell us."
If you recognise him, contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting 19100650978.
