Woman goes viral on TikTok with this Uber hack to get cheaper rides after night out

Now that pubs and restaurants in England have reopened their doors, lots of us will be looking for a ride home.

It's a conundrum everyone faces after a night out - bus, walk, cycle, Black Cab or local equivalent, or Uber?

One woman has shared her method that she claims get her cheaper Uber's and it's gone viral on TikTok.

Savannah Amparo racked up hundreds of thousands of views after showing how she manages it - and it doesn't require much effort.

She explained: "Lifehack, this is how you get a really cheap Uber when prices are really expensive."

She then shares a screengrab of her options, which shows the cheapest option is priced at $27.56 (£20), before clicking the schedule button beside the confirmation button.

Savannah then re-enters where she's going and changes the time by moving her ride pickup time back ten minutes.

On the app, the price has dropped to $9.38 (£6) - which is a much better deal.

In the caption, Savannah added: "Schedule your Ubers, so much cheaper. You're welcome. Even 10 mins takes off so much."

Her video has been viewed more than 629,000 times and racked up hundreds of comments.

One person commented: "I did this when I went to Miami and it was a game-changer."

Another advised: "This also works if it's 2am and you're leaving the bar and no Ubers are available.

"If you schedule it, one will magically appear."

A third said: "Mine said $47 for a five-minute destination. I powered off my phone and then it said $27."

Another user commented: "This works, it took a $10.38 ride to under $7."

But one man claiming to work for Uber as a driver said it wouldn't work during the busiest time - so be careful.

He advised: "Experienced drivers know this. If we see a scheduled trip during peak times, we do not accept the ride."

Another warned: "Uber drivers will turn down this ride for a higher paying one! Don't do this if you're running late or need a ride ASAP."
