Nothing screams “the happiest place on Earth” quite like spending five figures on a plain brown purse with zero Disney flair. A California woman was visiting Disneyland and thought she should check out the buzz surrounding the ‘Disney Hermès Birkin.’
While she browsed secondhand Gucci and Chanel like it was a museum exhibit, the internet’s most side-eyed handbag had already vanished. For $19,000 no less. No Mickey, no sparkle, no Disney flair. It’s just a very brown purse and a whole lot of people questioning who exactly spends that much on a bag.
Looking for Lost Treasure: Disney Hermès Birkin
Lake’s (@lakejeanmarie) clip on TikTok currently has a whopping 11.2 million views. What has so many people on the edge of their seat? Viewing the viral Disney Hermès Birkin.
Lake begins the clip by saying, “Everyone’s talking about this Birkin in Disneyland and of course, I need to go look at it.” Lake takes viewers along to the storefront before heading in. First, she spots the Gucci items, all with Daffy Duck designs. Lake comments, “I wish the prices were visible.”
Next, she shows the Chanel case. These do not have any Disney characters in the design. Lake says she can’t find the Birkin but that she only sees some Hermès scarves and Louis Vuitton bags.
She then says, “I think someone bought it, I can’t find it.” As she continues walking around in the store and stating she doesn’t want to bother an employee to ask about a bag she isn’t interested in buying, someone near her interrupts her. “They sold the Birkin. They sold it a few nights ago, they said.” Lake humorously responds, “Someone bought my Birkin?”
Does Disneyland Sells Pre-Owned Luxury Items?
It seems The Happiest Place on Earth does have something for everyone. Who knew Disneyland sold secondhand luxury items? Two years ago, a Redditor posted in the r/TheHermesGame subreddit, ‘Mickey: Selling Hermes?’ Alongside the photo they uploaded, they also included the price. In the comments, Redditors seem baffled and incredulous over the price. Apparently to them, it is way too overpriced for the type of bag. It was a blue Evelyne bag priced at $4,350.
Just a few weeks ago, another TikToker posted about the Disney Birkin bag. Except, this time it was still there.
Megan, who goes by @themagicalmillennial_, mentions in her clip that, “For quite some time now, Disney has been selling pre-loved or pre-owned designer handbags.”
She shares that she has seen Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Prada bags being sold but one particular one caught her eye. According to her, the price was on the “lower-end” for the brand and type. Her jaw drops as the bag is still there in all its brown glory. The price according to Megan? $19,000. Megan says, “In case you wanted to buy a Birkin at Disneyland…no waiting list!”
Hermès is notorious for its process to buy a Birkin bag, often involving waiting lists and a wealthy relationship with the brand beforehand. The Mary Sue recently covered a story where a man was denied immediately when he walked into an Hermès store and asked to buy a Mini Kelly bag.

Is the Disney Hermès Birkin Worth It? Viewers Decide
Various viewers are clutching their pearls over both the expenditure, and the bag’s design. Because according to them, it’s not worth that price. One viewer says, “It was an ugly brown Birkin 40. nothing special.”
Another shares, “$19,000 for that,” with an attached picture of the Birkin. Someone else says, “Not me having -$7 in my account upset somebody bought my birkin.”
Others are upset at the consumerism that exists to make someone buy a bag for $19,000. One viewer says, “I have just enough money for Christmas and rent and then there’s people who can afford the only Disneyland Birkin the week of Christmas.”
A second one says, “Luxury bags in a theme park is peak capitalism.”
Lastly, one simply says, “America is insane.”
