Woman goes missing from near Weston's Grand Pier for 12 hours before being found with head injury

A woman went missing from near Weston-super-Mare's Grand Pier for 12 hours - before being found by police with a head injury a mile away.

Officers at Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for help in trying to piece together what happened to her.

The woman, in her 50s, had become separated from a friend and was last seen near Charlie's Chippy outside the Grand Pier on Wednesday May 20 at about 6.20pm.

She was found by police officers almost 12 hours later, at 6.15am on Thursday May 21 in Marchfields Way on the Bournville estate.

The woman is described as white and with a South African accent.

She wore a black top, a short black skirt and was barefoot having left her shoes on the beach. She may have appeared disoriented or unsteady.

She's now recovering at home.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to her.
