A woman who tried to take a shortcut through a new sewer development needed rescuing after getting stuck up to her waist in mud.
Firefighters were called to the location in in Mallow, North Cork, at lunchtime on Monday.
She is believed to have attempted the shortcut after fencing was blown down by strong winds over the weekend.
The wide stretch of mud is on the site of a new main sewer being installed as part of works in the area.
Two units of Mallow Fire Service responded quickly after Gardai who had been called to the scene asked them for help in safely extracting the woman from the quicksand-like conditions.

Johnathan Madden, station manager at Mallow, said they arrived and rapidly assessed the situation.
He told CorkBe: "We were asked to give assistance, the woman was up to her waist, it's likely she was looking for a short-cut and parts of the site are firm enough, it's just that she was in a spot where mud had been backfilled and it was very loose."
"We have a walkway we can use for rescue from water, mud and snow, we inflated it and two firefighters were able to get out to her and dig her out by hand with shovels."
The fire station manager said the woman was "pretty shook up" by her ordeal, but was checked by paramedics at the scene and was largely none the worse for her chilly, muddy ordeal.
The site was secured and the works are continuing.
Cork County Fire Service has reminded the public not to attempt to access sites such as these as they can pose dangers.
