Woman furious as brother-in-law sends four-page letter claiming he 'married wrong sister'

It's no secret that family relationships can be complicated - especially when it comes to in-laws.

But one woman has been left reeling after receiving a jaw-dropping note from her brother-in-law, in which he confesses his love for her and claims he "married the wrong sister".

If this weren't bad enough, the anonymous woman says her sister is currently pregnant with his child and the couple already have a four-year-old little girl.

She revealed her "disgust" in a post on Reddit's True Off My Chest forum, saying: "My pregnant sister's husband sent me a four-page handwritten letter confessing his love for me and how he has 'married the wrong sister'.

"I am 25, my sister is 33 and her husband is 34. My sister and 'Jim' married in 2016 and they were high school sweethearts.

"I used to live with my parents but in early 2019 I went to live with my sister as I was finishing up university and looking for a job away from my hometown. I helped take care of her baby daughter and cook and clean whilst I looked for a job and she and her husband worked full time. Except for the time he was in high school/university Jim and I didn't talk a lot, and I hardly spent any time with him.

"Last week, I decided to move into my own house closer to my new job and I've been finalizing all the papers. Today, I received his letter.

"I wish I had never come to their house, and I feel like a homewrecker, but I know it's his fault. I am furious at him. His daughter? His son? His wife? Does he not think of them?"

She continues to share how she can't "fathom" how the man could have fallen in love with her when she was just caring for his children.

"MY SISTER IS PREGNANT! I AM HER SISTER! I can't understand how depraved, selfish, and idiotic a person can be and how STUPID he is for writing a long letter without catching himself mid-way and thinking about how much he is losing. How he's throwing a beautiful loving family away for a fantasy," she writes.

"I know he's probably tired of marriage or commitment - he's not in love with me, but some idea he has in his head. But it's too far gone, and this can never be undone.

"I resent him for being a horrible father and husband - and for making me have to break my sister's heart. How will his children feel when they learn what kind of father they have? I hope they don't resent me. I am furious and disgusted. I am literally shaking with disgust and rage."

More than 170 people have since responded to the post, with many agreeing with the woman's thoughts.

One person posted: "He doesn’t love you. He’s just not being nagged by you, he’s not being reminded of his responsibility as a husband and father, all the fights, etc that’s him and his wife. The good, the bad, the annoying, etc. he’s not experiencing any of that with you so he thinks because you, a woman was around for that amount of time and didn’t get sick of him like his wife does on the occasion, he thought that meant you were different and would somehow be interested in him. What an idiot. He doesn’t love you, his wife or his kids."

Another added: "What an absolutely horrible position to be in."

A third commented: "Sounds like he’s in love with the idea of being in his mid-twenties again and having no responsibilities. He wants to run away from growing up (his wife, kids, house…) and loves the idea of having a young girlfriend."
