Woman fuming that pal won't pay half of £20 takeaway - even though she only had chips

A woman has been left angry with her friend who has been demanding more money for food she did not eat. The unnamed woman took to the 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' forum on Mumsnet to explain that she recently went out to meet a friend and get some food after a few drinks.

The woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "Went out with my friend on Saturday night. Got to the end of the night and we went to pizza shop for food.

"I said I only want garlic and chips which was £3.50. She was saying 'ok we will share, I'll get things too.' I said I only want garlic and chips as I'm not massively hungry though.

"She was very drunk and kept going on and on."

When it came to ordering her friend bought her the chips as well as pizzas and kebabs and all of it came to around £20.

The woman explained she gave her friend £5 for her garlic chips and did not ask for change despite it only costing £3.50.

She stated: "She got to the pizza shop and she was ordering all kinds. It came to over £20. The next day she texts 'hi just checked my bank statement, I paid £20 in the pizza shop but I only have £5 in my purse ? Did we go halfs?'

The author of the post replied by saying she had given her the money for the food she had ordered which was £5.

"Anyway she went on and on saying I should have gave her £10 as it was food for both of us (I told her I didn't want any). Now she's saying she can't waste that much money and asking for an extra £5," explained the woman.

In response many have been quick to support her and judge the pal as one wrote: "What an unattractive quality in a friend! How mean!"

While another said: "Reply, 'actually you owe me £1.50.'"

A third wrote: "Sounds like she has spending remorse after a few too many and it’s trying to claw back some of the cost - but that’s not your problem as you made it clear you didn’t want to share and paid for what you ate!"
