Woman freed after being 'trapped' by telephone box in Scottish island

A WOMAN has been freed after a phone box had to be “removed” by firefighters in Shetland

One fire crew from Lerwick and an ambulance were called to the scene outside Freefield pharmacy on the island on Monday at around 5.10pm following a report of a person becoming trapped.

The woman was taken into the care of the ambulance service; her condition is unknown.

Local reports said the woman had become trapped between a phone box and a wall on Burgh Road, according to Shetland News.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reportedly said it had not been given details from local firefighters as to whether this was the case.

SFRS said the scene was made safe and that the phone box had been removed, before the scene was cordoned off.

The fire crew left the scene at around 6.21pm.
