
After responding to a ShotSpotter alert, Chicago police discovered the 30-year-old woman lying on the ground outside.
A 30-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound Thursday in Park Manor on the South Side.
About 1:40 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 7400 block of South Michigan Avenue and discovered the woman lying on the ground outside, Chicago police said. She had a gunshot wound to her chest and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear, but police sources said there were several people on the scene at the time of the shooting and do not know if the woman was the intended target.
A weapon was also recovered at the scene, police said.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
