Woman found wandering streets wrapped in duvet after being raped

A woman believed to be from Liverpool was found wandering the streets of Dundee, Scotland, wrapped in a duvet after being raped.

Police were called to a street in Dundee, just before midnight, on Saturday, July 11, after officers received a report of concern for a young woman.

The woman, who police said spoke with a strong Merseyside accent, was found lying in a duvet in an "extremely distressed state".

It was then later established she had been the victim of a serious sexual assault.

A black Vauxhall Corsa was also seen numerous times in a nearby street at a similar time, which may be significant.

Detective Inspector Marc Lorente of Dundee CID said: “The woman would’ve been very distinctive as she was wrapped in a duvet with a strong Liverpool accent and clearly very distressed just before midnight on Saturday.

"Since this was reported to us we've been conducting extensive inquiries and we continue to ask for the public's help as part of our investigation.

"We have already spoken to a number of witnesses who have come forward and provided us with vital information.

"We are aware that there was a party nearby late on Saturday evening, with people leaving around the time of the incident.

"We would like to hear from anyone who was there between 10pm and 11.45pm.

"Also, a black Vauxhall Corsa was seen several times in the area between those times.

"Again, we would like to speak to the occupants of this car as potential witnesses.

"We are continuing to conduct inquiries in the immediate area, which will see an increased police presence while we continue our investigation."
