Woman found near busy bypass in early hours

A woman was found near a busy bypass in the early hours of Tuesday by a member of the public.

Merseyside Police were called to Liverpool Road, just off the Formby Bypass, at around 4.40am today (Tuesday August 24) by a member of the public with concern for the welfare of an "elderly female".

A patrol car attended the scene and the woman was uninjured.

She was then returned to the care of her family a short time later.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO : "We were contacted at 4.40am today (Tuesday) by a member of the public following concern for an elderly female on Liverpool Road.

"A patrol attended and the woman, who was uninjured, was left in the care of her family a short time later."
