Woman found murdered in home with major police search underway for husband

Police have issued images of a man at a train station heading to Scotland - hours before his wife was found murdered.

Eileen Barrott, 50, was found dead at a house in Leeds having suffered 'serious injuries' at around 6.31pm on Sunday evening.

West Yorkshire Police said they had received a report of concern for her welfare.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation and say they urgently need to speak to Eileen's husband, Mark Barrott.

It is believed Mark, 54, got on a train at Leeds train station on Sunday at around 1pm and arrived in Edinburgh Waverley station at around 4pm.

Police have issued CCTV images of Mark at Leeds train station and also a picture from 2015.

Members of the public are being urged not to approach Mark Barrott if they see him but to dial 999.

Officers are also appealing to trace his car – a silver Toyota Avensis, registration FJ51 ZHB - which is still believed to be in Leeds.

Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe said: “We urgently need to speak to Mark Barrott in connection with the investigation, and we are keen to hear from anyone who has seen him or who has any information that could assist in tracing him."

“He was last known to be at Edinburgh Waverley station at 4pm yesterday and we would like hear from anyone who saw him then or since, or who can assist in establishing his current whereabouts.

“We would advise members of the public not to approach him but to contact the police immediately via 999 if they do see him.”
