Woman found in the street after suffering head injury - police have taped off an alleyway

A woman has been taken to hospital with a head injury following a police incident in north Manchester.

Police have taped off a ginnel connecting Ashgill Walk to Fernclough Road in Harpurhey this morning (Wednesday).

Officers have been seen standing guard inside the cordon.

The ambulance service confirmed a woman, thought to be in her early 30s, was taken to hospital at around 8.23am.

She is understood to have been found injured in the street.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted, but no details have been provided.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "At 8.23am this morning we were called to Fernclough Road.

"We have attended with an ambulance. It is a female, she has been taken to hospital with a head injury."
