Woman found dead in South Queensferry as cops launch probe

A woman's body has been found near the Forth Road Bridge sparking a police investigation.

Emergency services raced to the banks of the River Forth, close to The Hawes Inn and Forth Road Bridge in South Queensferry on Friday, August 21.

The alarm was raised just after 8pm.

The woman, aged 45, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police probing the death say there are no suspicious circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: “At around 8.10pm on Friday, officers were called to the Forth Road Bridge in South Queensferry, after the body of a 45-year-old woman was recovered.

"Enquiries to establish the exact cause of death are ongoing.

"However there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
