Woman found dead in Scots field as cops close road and launch probe

A 21-year-old woman has been found dead in a field in Aberdeenshire this afternoon.

Police raced to a field next to the A947, near Turiff, just before 4pm today after they were made aware of an "incident".

Sadly a 21-year-old female was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Record understands that the death is being treated as non-suspicious.

We told earlier of how officers quickly locked down the road and put diversions for motorists in place.

A small section of the A947 will remain closed as police continue to probe the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.45pm on Saturday the 3rd of April, officers were made aware of incident in a field next to the A947 near Turriff involving a 21-year-old female.

"Police attended and sadly the female was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A small section of the road will remain closed as officers continue enquiries."
