Woman found dead in Brisbane home

A woman has been found dead at a home in the Brisbane suburb of Upper Mount Gravatt. (AAP)

A woman has died with a wound to her lower body in suburban Brisbane, and a man believed to be her "on-again off-again" partner is being questioned by police.

Investigators believe the 43-year-old man made the initial emergency call about 7.30pm on Monday before paramedics arrived at the home in Upper Mount Gravatt.

Despite the "best efforts" of paramedics, the 45-year-old woman died at the scene just under an hour later.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming said the investigation was in its early stages and the death was being treated as suspicious.

"It's not lost on me that this happened on the same day as the National Women's Safety Summit was commencing in Canberra," he said on Tuesday.

He confirmed there was another incident at the same address in May during which police were called to a verbal argument.

"It's my understanding that the man currently assisting police in the investigation was not accused of any wrongdoing in that matter," he said.

Investigators believe the woman's wound was caused by a weapon but no arrests have been made and the 43-year-old man is assisting police voluntarily.

"We have someone who died, it's unexplained, it's suspicious (and) we need to know how that happened," Det Supt Fleming said.

"If someone is responsible for that, then we're very keen to make sure they're held to account and will be put before the court."

He said there was "some history" at the address over several years.

"Whether it involved these people remains to be determined," he said.
