Woman found dead in bathroom after taking cocktail of drugs, inquest hears

A woman who suffered from low blood pressure died after taking a mixture of drugs, an inquest has heard.

Catherine Susan Devitt, 56, was found dead at her home in Richardson Road, Eccles, Salford, on November 16, 2020.

An inquest into her death opened at Bolton Coroners' Court today (Tuesday February 9).

Police coroners' officer Neil McCaffrey told the court: "Police officers attended the address of Catherine Susan Devitt and found her unresponsive in the bathroom."

Mr McCaffrey told the court a police investigation concluded there were no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement.

Senior coroner for Manchester West Timothy Brennand said that the preliminary cause of death was 'combined drug toxicity'.

Mr Brennand also said that 'hypotension' was also a contributing factor.

The inquest was adjourned until April 28.
