Woman found dead after police called to house in Wigan

A woman's body was found after police were called to a home in Wigan.

Officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a person at a property in Wigan Lower Road, in Standish Lower Ground, at about 3.15pm on Wednesday (March 24).

Emergency services attended and discovered the body of a woman.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, say Greater Manchester Police.

A file has been passed to the coroner.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called at about 3.15pm on Wednesday 24 March 2021 to a report of concern for welfare at a property on Wigan Lower Road, Standish.

"NWAS also attended and, sadly, the body of a woman was found inside.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a file has been passed to the coroner.
